Fifteen years ago, while working with Angela Ocheltree in a business capacity, I saw a small sculpture in her home that caught my eye. I discovered that this work that I admired was not done by a famous artist, but instead by Angela in her spare time as a "hobby".
Many years passed, and my business relationship with Angela grew; and in that capacity, I always gave Angela assignments that involved some sort of highly creative challenge. She never disappointed me or the many stakeholders I served. Those same people I served gave me credit for "creative vision" that was really nothing more than Angela's extraordinary creativity at work on my behalf. As I sit here today, I realize that I owe a great deal of my reputation success to Angela's creative genius.
As time passed, I realized that Angela's calling was to put her heart and soul into sculpting and I encouraged her to leave the world of business behind her and pursue a full time career in the arts. To jump start this suggestion, I asked her to do a bronze sculpture of my twin boys (Austin and Brandon). This was to be her first life size piece of bronze work and to top that off, the first time ever to do this work with two subjects at the same time.
The sculptures were completed to my astonishment in a manner that was not only true to their likeness, but captures their essence in every way. Once again, Angela, in her new world, continued to exceed all of my expectations.
I am an extraordinary fan of Angela Ocheltree and consider it a privilege to have worked with her, an honor to know her and a rare gift to have her work grace the front entrance of my home. Seeing your own children when you come home, locked in a magnificent moment in time is a precious thing indeed.
